Whether your holiday is a leisurely tour or a more active outing “Gleann Doire” is an ideal location for adults, groups and families. Gleann Doire Holiday Homes are just 2 miles away from the coastal town of Ballyheigue. Ballyheigue is a pleasant seaside town offering plenty of amenities for tourists.

Golf at BallyheigueThe village contains everything for your everyday needs including shops, post office, restaurants and five pubs. The landscape is dominated by the ruins of Ballyheigue Castle which overlooks the bay and whose grounds now contain an acclaimed 9 hole golf course. A selection of the finest golf links in the country are nearby at Tralee Golf Club and Ballybunion Golf Club, others include Dooks in Killorglin and Waterville located in South Kerry.

Ballyheigue beach, an EU Blue Flag rated sandy beach, is nestled into small cliffs defining the start of Kerryhead, offers particularly safe bathing in exceptionally clean water. Further along the beach towards Banna strand is the Black Rock, a good fishing area. Kerryhead offers excellent rock fishing along with the panoramic views across Tralee Bay, the Dingle Peninsula, the Maherees and Loop Head. The south coast of Clare is clearly visible across the mouth of the River Shannon, Irelands largest river, on the North side of Kerryhead and can be easily accessible from the car ferry at Tarbert. This is also a good location for whale and dolphin watching. Walking routes have also been established on the world renound Burren and Cliffs of Moher.

Tralee, the capital town of County Kerry, is only 14 miles away and has all the visitor attractions and tourist amenities, including Siamsa Tire – the National Folk Theatre of Ireland, the Kerry Museum & Heritage Centre, children will love the Aqua Dome and Aqua Golf which is one of the largest water parks in Ireland, and of course the Steam Train ride to the Blennerville Windmill, the largest working Windmill in Ireland.

For those wishing to tour the South West corner of Ireland this is an ideal location, with the Ring of Kerry, Lakes of Killarney and Dingle Peninsula all within easy reach. This is also an ideal location for scuba diving, surf boarding, sailing, bird watching, with a wide variety of wild birds in the area.
